This is from GTplanet:
"Our own user Digital-Nitrate has discovered an early copy of the February issue of the Official PlayStation Magazine, and it’s got some pretty incredible news! Indy (IRL) cars have been confirmed, in addition to weather effects, as well as night racing for all tracks! Here’s a nice little summary of everything that’s discussed and confirmed:
* 1,000+ vehicles
* All vehicles have modeled **** (170 premium cars will have interior damage modeling)
* All vehicles will have both physical and mechanical damage modeling
* Indy (IRL) cars and tracks
* NASCAR cars and track
* Up to 16 players online
* High-definition video uploads directly to YouTube
* Multi-display rendering
* Head-tracking
* Full weather and night racing on all tracks
* Night/Day on all tracks"
Another rumour, but take it with a grain of salt, is that theres a couple of places that have announced a Feb release.

Yeah, sux about the delay, they havent even given it a Qtr (like 2nd qtr 2010). Not alarming, but not positive either. Hopefully its just sony being strategic with their release dates and nothing to do with technical/licensing difficulties.

It's always been capable of region lock, just never got used. People have discovered new messages in firmware 3.50 that also suggests region locked games may become a more common occurrence. Also, paid-for store content has nearly always been region locked.

I'm not even into racing sims, or the GT series for that matter, but I think I might just even get GT5 since it seems like it's like THE reason to get a PS3 (as I already have a PS3, just for exclusives).
oh and those list of features sound ridiculously over-exaggerated. I'd expect those kind of features if we lived in The Matrix, and the creators decided to create a life-like GT37 for us all.

Which would explain why driving a race car in real life is like playing an arcade game, damn lazy machine overlords.

Apparently the release date is November 24th. http://blog.us.playstation.com/2010/11/ ... 24th-2010/I'm confused, because that's not December. Perhaps us Europeans are getting screwed over.

Havent tried online yet, so i dont know.
Ive focused so far on getting licenses and completed the IC license. All gold except IC10, best i come in that one is 2nd so far.
Im a bit mixed about the graphics, lots or re-used assets from gt4/gt psp which stick out like a sore thumb compared to the brilliantly new cars and tracks.
So much to do in the game, ill be occupied for months! At level 9 at the moment, curious to see what unlocks as i go.

Well, I'm liking GT5. Granted I've only played for a day (I'm on lvl 9) I'm not sure what the fuss is about. It's Gran Turismo. It feels like GT and plays like GT.
I'm not into racing games in general and don't have a 360 anyway so I guess I'm in the dark about what makes Forza 3 so special. All I know is with GT5, I appear to be getting what I expected.

I'm really liking GT5. It's so damn addictive. So far I'm level 15 and am beginning to amass a decent collection of cars. I've unlocked the Top Gear Test Track and Nurburgring Nordschleife for arcade and practice modes and have been proactively modifying and tuning some of my cars. The tracks are great, the cars are great, the racing feels great (especially with a GTpro steering wheel), and the graphics are great. Also I don't know what the fuss about the online lobby is, it's so easy to find a good race and even when racing people in England it all feels so stable.
Basically GT5 is full of win and is one of the most addictive games out there.

I hear once you reach around lvl 25 it is easy enough to have everything mastered and not being able to go on without grinding. I'll probably stop playing at around that point, but I've got a ways to go until then

I'm level 15 A spec, level 10 B Spec.
So far ive done all the licenses Gold and im up to Super license. Ive completed some of the special events, first 2 go-karts, Nascar, Topgear and only the first AMG event.
I haven't done that many cups yet, ive only completed Beginner in both A & B specs. Done most Amateur cups in A spec but only started in B Spec.
Ive spent a bit of time online as well and thats a blast. From Nordschleife to SS7, and Topgear drag races! Best done in a private lobby so you can control you comes in (only people allowed are ones on you friends list).
Now that Ive got this game, many other games, new ones too, are quietly collecting dust.
